Nurse With Wound - Lumb's Sister (2014 compi, rec. 1986-7)

Long overdue some NWW here, so here's one that I've been listening to a lot on the dark evenings.  Originally written as a film soundtrack - the director's eventual choice of alternate music gets a good-natured "aw shucks" from Stapleton in the brief liner note - Lumb's Sister is classic mid-80s Nurse With Wound.

All the expected ingredients are present: huge, formless chasms of ambient sound from which emerge creakings, groanings, occasional soft and ominous rhythms, and so forth.  A selection of Lumb recordings were released as part of a 3LP box set in 1989, shared with Current 93 and Sol Invictus; Stapleton then took an informal run at a reissue circa 2012, which appeared on a few CDRs, before this definitive collection was released in 2014.

It can probably be taken as a given, knowing the artist's predilection for remixing himself, that at least some of the material was smartened up for final release, but it certainly all sounds fantastic and has an album-like consistency.  As a bonus, Coil appear on Stapleton's remix of How To Destroy Angels.

  1. Having files removed is a good indication the artists do not like what you do, and what you do is illegal, and it hurts sales. Music is a business.
The next step will be for Web Sheriff and BPI to file with Google and make sure you never use ANY of their services again. NO BLOG. No NOTHING.
The next stop after that is prosecution for grand larceny and deliberate interference with copyright and sales. The magistrate will not accept your excuse that you LIKE music and want to SHARE it because you’re RETIRED with NOTHING BETTER TO DO.
You’ll have nothing better to do sitting in a jail cell and staring at your bankruptcy papers.
You like music? Write about it. Don’t steal it.
Remove the GOOGLE DRIVE links before Google takes them away AND your blog, and YOU get taken away.

    1. Yeah! Isn't it easier to just post entire albums on Google's YouTube for the sweet, hot kiss of ad revenue? All you have to do is say, "I don't own any of this, YouTube doesn't own any of this, Google doesn't own any of this: Gimme my $0.003 so Amazon can sell some more adult massage devices." I mean, why buy any music at all when you can stream it for free at the artist's expense?

Sarcasm! Because heartfelt enthusiasm don't pay the bills.

  2. Oh my god, could this anonymous poster be the one working out his self hatred and trying to fill the gnawing void in his soul by reporting/harassing someone who brings so much happiness to others? Striking a blow for his beloved rules of law and copyright by bleating at Nurse With Wound fans? Yes. Yes it could be.

  4. Looks like all the zippy links have gone. At this point, all I can do is laugh... and keep going. Reupping will probably take longer - try to think it through.
