Michael Garrick Trio - Moonscape (1964)

A super-rarity of British jazz, this little mini-album was released in an edition of just 99 copies on 10" vinyl.  It made its way on to CD a decade ago thanks to the efforts of obscurity-hound Jonny Trunk and his Trunk Records label, also responsible for reissuing mildly-distressing children's record The Seasons.

Michael Garrick (1933-2011) worked with the cream of the jazz avant-garde in London and beyond in the late 60s and 70s, including a 1970 release with Norma Winstone that I've got my eye on.  In 1964, he was audibly influenced by Bill Evans (Sketches Of Israel here is just gorgeous) but keen to sail to choppier waters beyond, and Moonscape always passes a hugely enjoyable 22 minutes whenever I dig it out.
