That's all, folks! (for now)

Time for a break.  Many, many thanks for all your comments over the past five years!

Back in a few months.  I'll leave you for now with some of the most perfect, timeless piano music ever written, in my favourite rendering by French pianist Pascal Roge, recorded 1983 and released the following year.

Happy new year to everyone, and here's hoping your 2021 is better than 2020 (not a high bar to clear, I guess).

Cheers,
AB

  36. So long Alan. It has been such a pleasure following your posts from week to week - veering from ECM and krautrock, from Thomas Ades to Tangerine Dream. So much good music I was reminded of and discovered. A number of ideas for my program Step Outside on WMNF Tampa came from threads you introduced. All I can say is thank you and happy voyages! I hope you will return, but I am immensely satisfied by all you offered. Cheers.

  39. Thank you, Alan, for the many fine uploads! Also a nice choice (the Satie) for a break (temporary?). Do you know Reinbert de Leeuw's Satie piano recordings? His performances--especially on Gnossiennes 1,2 and 3--are mind-blowing. _Verrrrry_ slow and deliberate--I actually modified my own playing of a lot of that stuff after first hearing de Leeuw. First volume here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbQQkmPv0uE

  48. Yet another uncannily apt closing 'bookend', Mr B. Rogé's 1970s Decca recordings of Ravel and Debussy solo piano works are my personal gold standard for both French masters. Reccmmended - though I've a funny feeling they are already somewhere in your shelves... A heartfelt thank-you for your generous and diligent effort with SGTG over the past five years. You've played a part in sustaining this listener thru some very difficult times. Take care of yourself! All the best, FA
